Default Crack.

I have no idea what I hit, but somehow I managed to crack this plug/bolt or whatever. I am a total noob and have no idea what this plug could be. I know it can't be the tranny drain plug. Here are some pictures.

It leaks about 2-3 drips, a day. Would JB do the job and seal it? Thanks guys.

No. It's definitely not an ITR specific piece, I've had it on two different ls motors.

And the drip could be coming from your oilpan, or worse somehow leaking from your trans.

x2 cuz their oem on my GS-R

To the OP it is an engine stiffener and does not plug any fluid from coming out but if fluid is dripping from there it may be your main seal that is going or your oil pan gasket

i don't see any cracks. all i see is the casting line from when that part was made. all B series swaps should have 2 stiffeners that bolt from the motor to the bottom of the transmission bell housing, one in the front and one in the back. i believe ITR motors have a 1 piece stiffener that also acts as the flywheel cover.

try power washing or steam cleaning all that oil residue off first. the oil could come from oil pan, rear main seal, headgasket, pvc breather, or even the valve cover. but it looks like you could use a new oil pan gasket anyway.

ohh. I looked under my car to see where it was leaking and I saw that, assuming that was where the leak was from, since there was oil all over it. Probably is a leak from some other spot. I'll probably have my pan gasket replaced soon. Thanks for all your help.

Way to jump boats

Yes, there is a Cover over the flywheel area, and there is Also a brace.
Do I need to go out and take pictures showing the part better on my own car?

theres a green liquid you can buy from autozone. you put it in your motor or w/e and you start up the car then wherever your car is leaking you will see the green liquid leaking with it and it helps you spot the leakspot.

Could be your rear main seal that's leaking. As for that brace, it's nothing to worry about.

If you haven't cleaned the engine yet, I wouldn't go just blindly replacing gaskets. You might get lucky and hit it right the first time, but more likely not. You need to clean off all that grime so you can see where the leak is coming from. Cleaning it is no big deal. Just get some degreaser and spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes and then hose it off. Just be sure to wrap up electrical stuff with plastic bags first - like the distributor, fuse box, etc. And don't get any water in the throttle body.

I had a guy recently tell me my oil pan was leaking when I took my car in for an oil change. He didn't have any clue. I knew I had a leak and I knew exactly where it was - I just hadn't got around to taking care of it yet. My leak was actually a distributor seal. The oil would drip out of the dizzy cap and run down the block and transmission and sit there by the oil pan. It's all sealed up now - took care of it a couple weeks ago - and I'll be switching back to synthetic this week.
