Default cooling issue

ive been running my car without a thermostat for awhile. at first it was never overheating. it stayed really cool. then after awhile it began to overheat.

people tell me to put a thermostat on. others tell me to leave it off. the car has new water pump. im going to install a aluminum radiator tomorrow.

today i installed a thermostat from checkers. it began to really overheat.
i opened the hood and checked both hoses. bottom is cool while the top is super hot. i figure the thermostat never opened.

i decided to be a smart *** and took it to firestone and paid 70 bucks for a heating/cooling check. im pretty sure they gonna either tell me the thermostat is bad, or they dont understand why there is a turbo and a vtec head on an ls engine.
i hope the second one comes to play

seriously though do i really need a thermostat. what are the chances of me getting a defective one lol! i was very gentle during installation, i swear!

ya my top hose gets hot but my bottom one is cool. Had the thermostat replaced over a year ago and and never over heated on me.

first of all that was dumb of u.runnin without thermostat.second u paid $70 buck for overheating check.instead u should use that money to pickup a new thermostat.its bad to let the car overheats.even though u got vtec head it used the same cooling system anti-freeze.so the thermo n waterpumps should operate the sameway.its your car u do the calls.

sounds like a bad thermostat, may also be a bad radiator....

yeah i was thinking the radiator was bad too. looks very old and corroded.
i paid the firestone guys as a way of checking everything else. double checking if something could of been wrong besides the thermostat.

my new radiator arrived today so hopefully i get it done this week. the guy that shipped it forgot the universal fan clips and tiedowns so hes got me waiting right now.

ill put a new thermostat after i put the new radiator. this time im going to check if it opens first. didnt know at first but i found out you can test it by heating water and watching it open. i thought that was the coolest thing ever.
