But you should be able to start/run/drive it with a LS ecu in the meantime.

yeah i know i can drive it but ever since my ef got stolen i have been deprived of vtec it is kinda like being in prison for 5 yrs and seeing your girl from behind glass so basically it sucks! but c the thing i dont understand is my friends p05 had a ex map with vtec activated and his dx would throw vtec code soo im thinkin about using his comp seein as it obviously recognizes vtec and he has a obd1 zc and will be better off using my ls which already has uberdata!
i had a 96 ls auto comp running my 2000 gsr man & it was chipped, the car ran like a champ even without vtec popin. now i got a 98 ecu. so thiers 2 ecu's stiing in my garage collecting dust
my friend has a p28 ready to be used already chipped for DOHC

false. and funny, cause u own an ls. u can use a v-afc and any old ls ecu... no 8k redline, but vtec DOES work, trust.

vtec at whatever the hell you want. runners open all the time. not ideal, but it works just fine.

I've converted a few non-vtec ecus to vtec. There's a couple of different boards. So first thing you have to do is figure out what board you have because the process is slightly different. Hardest part is finding the parts to add into the ecu for the vtec circuitry. I've been fortunate to have collected a few fried ecus for parts. Haven't been able to find a place that sells small quantities of the parts that are needed.
