Consequences of I/H/E??
My friend keeps telling me that I'll run too lean if I have all these mods. Is this true? Do I need a AFC if I have these mods? I assumed that since these mods are just boltons it wouldn't change the A/F that much. Also I assumed the ECU would adapt itself.
Oh i was just wondering cause my friend with a 00 Celica GT thinks that if he puts on an intake he'll run lean and detonate and backfire and all this stuff.
If you want to reset the ECU, do you just unplug it, wait for 5~10 mins, and then plug in again? Are there any other precautions people should be aware of?
Like, will I need to re-enter the 5 code for the stock stereo...etc?
Or wait, is that when you replace the batter?

Stop listening to you friend, he is terribly uninformed.
Listen to us - at least some of us know what we are talking about.

and then your money will dissappear
and then you'll need more tools
and a better garage
and a .....

if your friend goes to the celica forums, then dont listen to him, them forums are full of ricers that don't know ****...theres only a few on that board that are knowledable.....but many on honda-tech.....
i/h/e are ur BASICs that need nothing...couple more bolt ons, u'll probably need to invest in a FPR to get even more power...when fuel is needed

To reset the ECU, either pull out the "Clock, Radio" fuse under the hood for about 5 min, or pull off the negative battery terminal for 5 min.
Yes, you will need to enter the code for the stereo.
Deadly-Lude found an interesting article on the North Texas Prelude Owners Group about how to wire an ECU-resetting toggle switch that lets you reset the ECU without affecting the stereo or clock. Here is the link: http://www.ntpog.org/mods/fifth-afc/ecu.shtml

actually you will run rich. The ecu will over compensate. If you get a vafc I'd pull a little fuel out and you might gain a 1 or 2 hp up top.
Your friend may have a point (not because he knows anything, just out of luck
). Some ECU's may not be able to respond/compensate for I/H/E, but yours is most certainly not one of those ECUs.
Go for it, have fun.
