Default Compression Test Results.

I just did a compression test and the results were 193 179 193 200. The numbers vary quite a bit but I was wondering if I would be safe from any problems by using the car as a daily driver (meaning that the car will be stock). The variance between the first and second cylinder is 14PSI, which is acceptable but between cylinder two and four is a variance of 21. Is this anything to worry about?

The numbers for your 2nd cyl might be a little low, but do you really want to rebuild your motor because its a little low? In other words you should be fine if its just going to be your stock daily driver.

I would adjust the valve clearances and redo the test. You can also add a small amount of oil (~1 tsp) to the suspect cylinder to check the rings for blow-by.

I'm guessing that it's the rings but I'm not really disturbed since this is my daily. I was wondering though, is reliability sacrificed with worn rings? The number in cylinder number 2 isn't too much lower than the others and quite frankly, if the car just burns oil I'm willing to live with it, as long as the reliability is still there.

I thought that the one that was at 179psi was cyl. 3...

Like the one farthest from the dizzy was cylinder one...

haha, you were talking about "stock" and "daily driving" and now your talking about boosting. Sure the numbers are fine for low boost on a decent size turbo and tune. But you can expect a rebuild sooner than anticipated if you do boost the engine in that condition.

I was just checking out my options . Plus, you never know, later in the future I might want to give the car some kick.

I've read that as long as the lowest is within 15% -20% of the highest the engine can still be considered good. your barely above 10% diff

I'm sitting at a difference of 10.5%. I've decided to just leave this car mainly stock minus an intake.
