compression of ctr pistons?
does anyone know what the compression of ctr pistons in a gsr motor...ive heard its around 12.4:1, but that seems kinda high. any thoughts?
Nah it's just over 12:1 with a stock head gasket. They have a high dome displacement, somewhere near 8.5cc. Not a bad choice really, especially with high lift cams. Just check clearance if you go with these. A slightly more conservative option is the JDM ITR slug. It comes in right around 11.3:1 in a GSR.
well ive heard of a lot of people around, including cali., that run those pistons on as low as 92 octane gas...and i bought cp forged 12.5:1 pistons for my gsr and people are sayin it wont run on 94 octane...im confused, will .4-.5 compression really make that big of a diff.?
That will put you right on the edge of what you can get away with. If you're tuned well, you'll get away with it. Just set timing to stock and make sure you don't lean out too much.
I'd recomend larger injectors, perhaps 370cc, a Hondata computer, and a good Hondata tuner. Aftermarket rods or no? Cam gears? That's almost 230BHP, that might be a asking a bit much on stock bore and ITR cams. Difficult to guess what you'll get w/o a complete list of mods, but I will anyway.
I say you'll get just over 190whp. Good luck.

i already have skunk2 gears, and the bore will be .020 over...can i get away with stock rods, or do i need to get aftermarket...how much is the hondata? i can also get an inline fuel pump for pretty cheap, or is that worth it?
Stock GSR rods are strong and are fine till you start getting over 200whp. For an all motor GSR it's more for peace of mind than anything else. I got Eagle rods for mine for $328 shipped, and consider it money well spent. When a motor's limits are pushed to the extreme the most stressed part is usually the rods, stock honda Vtec cranks breaking is almost completely unheard of, so the rods break. Now if you picture a connecting rod breaking at high rpm, the possibility of traumatic damage is very high..like the broken rod being pushed right through the block for instance.
My Hondata S200 was $259 shipped, but of course you need an OBDI ecu if you don't have one already. I don't believe you'll need the fuel pump, I'd spend the $$$ elsewhere.

i have a 95 integra, so im already obd1...where did you get your hondata and rods from? and how does the hondata work exactly?
Extraceptional.
Got the rods from Damon(damonboost) on these very boards. Very trustworthy and professional chap, and I believe he has another sale on these rods right now. Got the S200 & Hondata IM gasket from Kyle West of KSmotorsports, who like Damon does business on this board and also is a very pleasant fellow. You can also contact Robert(rocket) on these boards, he's extremely knowledgable and helpful, but busy.
The S200 is a small box that's wired to your OBDI ECU. It's fuel & timing maps are fully programmable by a Hondata dealer. It's typical use is with boost, but a heavily moddified NA Honda has dramatically different timing/fuel requirements from stock. You can find allot more info at Hondata's site.
