well i am working on my bros car.
his car is givving me code 72 sounds like it is misfiring or maybe somthing wrong with the cat maybe cloged.
i am getting a code 72 and im not to sure what it is.
ive checked cap and rotor and all the spark pugs and #2 was all gunked up cleaned them all..
im not to sure where to go from here..
any info would be great

Cylinder number 2 is misfiring. Could be bent valves, bad plug wires, clogged fuel injector, etc.

 

Since you know the code why dont you search the internet, ive ran accross a few places that will give you the info on the code

well when i took spark plug out it was all covered in crap. how do u tell if it a bent valve?

 

Compression check.

 

how does the car run?
Has there been a change in gas octane recently? Sometimes that will do it.

 

well the car runs good but at idle to like 3gs u can here a miss in the exhaust. there is a little shake comming from engine that i can feel when car is running.
when i do a comp test it will show a very low pressure...right
i think its going to be a valve prob. as he told me he was going through the gears and when he got to the top if fourth at 8gs it made a noise either after his shift or just as he got there.

You want consistent numbers for all four cylinders. A GSR will typically read about 200psig. However, that value depends on the guage, motor, etc.

It could be a clogged injector that is running lean at higher RPM.

 

well i found out what it is..
there is 30psi in cylinder #2
so i guess he likes putting valves in it i guess.

 

30psi... I would guess that the piston has a hole in it.
