Code 17 GSR
I just finished my GSR swap and took it for a drive to notice mt speedometer not working and after a few high revs Code 17 shows up and VTEC also stops engaging.
Today I put in a brand new VSS and still I am having the exact same problem, Code 17.
I am using a Crome chipped P28 ecu.
Any ides to what could be causing this?

you didn't post what car it was going into. this is rarely a problem with the 94+ integra but can be with earlier cars. the cluster, vss and ecu all communicate. in short you should have followed the instructions laid out for the swap in your specific car. if you put the ecu on a scan tool check to see if rpm and vehicle mph are registering accurately.

The gas gauge has never worked on it but everything else always has. Now my speedometer does not work . . . . .
gas gauge not working is a tell tale for the wrong year of cluster. get your hands on an actual 94-95 cluster. the other thing is check the wiring and the plug for your vss it's real easy to bend the tabs in the clip in plug it plugs into.
also, if you have a gsr swap what's a chipped p28 doing in there ? it won't run the gsr manifold correctly even if the ecu is tuned for that engine. i hope you have a single runner manifold and tuned that ecu to that motor.

We ended up using the OBD2 LS harness and plugs from a OBD1 GSR harness and PSWRD JDM's dizzy sub harness. We did a engine bay shave and wire tuck so we didn't want use the GSR harness since it had so many things on it we didn't need.
I have a LS Cluster, what year it is from I am not sure since my car is a several Integras put into one.
As far as my intake manifold goes I have a SKUNK2 and my ecu is tuned for a GSR.
I also have a USDM ITR tranny with a brand new 95 GSR VSS I picked up from Autozone today.
Would a 4 door GSR Cluster be exactly the same as a 3 door? I'm assuming it is . . . .

as far as i know clusters are just year specific. you have 94-95, 96-97, 98-99 and 00+ all different. you have a hacked mess of wires none of which are compatible. i can't even comment on that since running obd2 to obd1 harnesses opens a can of worms i've never dealt with for good reason. if i'm doing a swap it all stays one make and model. mis match hacks are more trouble than they are worth. if your cluster is an unknown that's one problem though. also is the only year cluster i don't have. i have a 96-97, 98-99 and 2001 spare cluster in my shop.
