Default clutch problems?..

i picked up my '97 gsr last year with 162k on it and noticed that the clutch was really tight but i had to raise the pedal fairly high until it reached the point of engagement.. i didnt really know if it was a problem at first because i was fairly new to driving a 5spd.. but now after driving other integras i notice a big difference.. i have to raise the pedal well above the halfway mark before it engages.. i've also haven't been able to chirp from 1st to 2nd gear and have been able to do it on my friend's gsr.. do i need to change the whole clutch? or is it the pressure plate or something?

It sounds like your clutch might not be engaging fully. I would try bleeding the clutch lines. it might just be an aftermarket clutch... (mine engages hirer and its a good clutch, but it definitly chirps the tires).

Sorry i couldn't help anymore.

yea, this is still the original clutch.. the previous owner said he hasnt changed anything at all.. could it be that its just due to be changed? everything else is fine its not loose or anything it just doesn't catch until really high..

With 162k on the clock, your probably due for a new clutch.

Then again, I just replaced the clutch in my GSR with 318k. Only reason it needed to be replaced was it physically self destructed, but there was still some meat left on the linings...

My ghetto clutch test is to put it in third, rev to about 5k and drop the clutch. if the car bucks and dies, your clutch is good (gripping), if it winds down then dies its slipping.
