Default Clutch install question??

I did a search and really didn't find what I was looking for....

I'm getting ready to get my new clutch installed and all of the shops I call keep telling me that they want to replace the rear main seal while they're in the transmission.
Is this totally necessary? Should I go ahead and get it done?
Thanks in advance.

that really depends on you, the mileage on the motor and the money.

Well...The car has 60,000miles on it, but its a 94. I'm getting the clutch replaced because its beginning to slip a bit and smell like its burning after long drives.
A couple of the shops said that the labor will be the same and that the part isn't that expensive. I'll probably just go ahead and get it done. No sense Half-Assing it.

Anybody know where I can get one cheap?
Thanks

Hmmm, rear mains on B-series don't really leak that often. Sounds like something unnecessary to me that they're going to get more money from you. It's like going to the doctor to have your toncils out and having him suggest a face lift while he's in there. 60k is NOT high miles at all, I'm sure your rear-main is just fine. Screw those guys. Don't cave to the sales tactic.

The quotes I have gotten so far are between $320 and $570!!! The $320 was for just installation of the clutch. If the flywheel needs replacing, thenthat will be an extra $50. If the rear main seal needs replacing, that'll be an extra $40!

It looks like I'm not going to get away without paying about $400 to get this thing put in!!
Clutches are expensive

I probably will get it replaced...one of the shops said that he won't charge me any extra labor and if I buy one and bring it in to him, that would save him from charging me for one.
I guess I'll call Autozone and see how much they are.

Just called Autozone...Rear Main Seal is only $9.93...I'm going to go ahead and do it. For $10 bux....its worth it.
