so after redline almost every gear except 5th my check engine light came on. i was driving my car pretty hard last night just cruising around. it came on during 3rd gear as i was reentering the freeway and right before the check engine light came on ,the car jerked a bit.
the car seems to be driving fine but the check engine light is still on.
dont know what it could be so can anyone point out what i should be looking at?

vtec malfunction? this is kind of a vague description... so it'll be hard to diagnose. go to auto zone and have the CEL read for free.

 

if you search you can find out what code you are throwing and then it'll tell you why the mil turned on.

its 96 obd2.. but yea i was ganna go to auto zone tomorrow but for some reason my car resetted and the check engine light turned off..
thats another problem i have with the car. sometimes nothing works on the car. like the battery is dead or soemthing. i cant turn on/off my alarm, the car wont start, the lights wont even turn on. the only way i can turn it on is if i tap on the fuse box in front of the car. and when i turn it on the clock is resetted, and all my settings went back to default.
this just started happening about 2 months ago.
any ideas what it could be? bad fuse box maybe?

 

bad connection somewhere. possibly a wire connecting from the fuse box to battery?
