CEL Code 22 Question
Around the 1st week of April I threw a CEL and it was for the oil pressure switch on the VTEC solenoid. I removed the solenoid and checked the O-ring to make sure it wasn't clogged. I put it back in, reset the CEL and went about my way. About 2 weeks later, I get the same thing. Code 22. So I go thru the same thing and again the same thing happens. The CEL came on each time I got above 5700 RPM aka VTEC.
Well yesterday, on the way home my oil light started blinking and I am due for an oil change (keep in mind the CEL was still on for the same reason. I knew it was the pressure switch and just didn't get into VTEC, thought it was safe). I checked the oil and it was a qrt low. I put a qrt in reset the CEL and oil light. On the way home after the car was warm, I got into VTEC a few times, even redlining once or twice and no CEL or low oil light.
I guess my question is, can low oil cause the CEL to come on b/c the pressure switch was registering below 5psi, (<---- Oil light comes on when less than 5psi is detected) or is my oil pressure switch actually bad and misreading? This morning on the way to work I got into VTEC as well and still no CEL. It's hard for me to believe a qrt of oil solved my problem.
