Default Catalytic question

I searched for it but could not find it.

My cat on a 1995 GSR is dying, and I was looking into getting a new cat. My car is completely stock, so I was wondering if I got a magnaflow at 2.5" if that will cause a problem fitting into my stock exhaust system?

I want to get a full headerback exhaust system eventually, but just want to get rid of the annyoing buzz at 3300rpm-4100rpm in every gear.

am i better to buy a cat that will fit my current stock exhaust system?

Whatever shop you choose could weld a few pipes in pipes to make it fit, but it might look ugly. It all depends on the timeframe of which you're gonna get the headerback exhaust, if it's going to be soon, then buy the 2.5, but if it's not gonna be for a while, then get one to match the exhaust until your ready for the exhaust. Best bet would be to talk to a local shop.

buying a 2.5 cat which stock header and exhaust will cause major back pressure. your setup will be 2-->2.5-->2 (whatever stock is) = not good
