Catalytic converter problem....
I have searched as much as I can to no luck... My prob is... I have a 2001 GSR, the car already had an I/H/E, and high flow cat on it, when I purchesed it. I had the car for about a month or so when it started making a very loud echoing, banging, metal sound from underneath the car when at low rpms. I was able to locate the problem myself which turned out to be the cat. Part of the honeycomb came loose in the cat blocking my exhaust flow, so at low rpms, it would just bang around and echo very loud, this blockage also severly effected my performance, seeming to "cut off" my vtec. Well I took off the cat, and banged out all of the remaining honeycomb to prevent this from happening again. Well now I have a very loud, nasty smelling, exhaust. And it has also seemed to have lost some power downlow, I am guessing from being a large hollow cat trying to flow exhaust, and not beeing able to smoothly. I have been trying to find a new high flow cat for my car, and am having a very hard time. My catalytic converter has 2 O2 bungs in it, one right behind the flange that bolts to the header, which is not used, and there is one near the back of the cat, near the 3 bolt flange, which the O2 sensor goes into. I have only been able to find cats that have the O2 sensor bung at the header end, and not the 2 sensor locations which i need. If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.. And I dont know what brand of cat is currently on the car otherwise I would just order that same one again..... Thanks
