I noticed the Type-r's on speedvision have the heatshield removed from there cat. Any reason for doing so?

Because sooner or later it's going to rattle.. And I don't know if it saves weight.. But I do know that I took mine off.. Annoyed the hell out of me..

Re: Cat heat shield (PnX-R)
It dosent weigh that much. The only problem i could see happening is the wires that run to the o2 sensors might get hot or melted. They are shielded tho so I dont think theres anything to worry about.

Re: Cat heat shield (Fooser)
I dont know their specific reason, but it probably is for weight purposes. Every lb helps

It doesnt cause any problems, unless you enjoy parking in elephant grass! You may feel a slight bit of heat coming from the center console, but thats only if youre SUPER sensitive.

Re: Cat heat shield (newgsrdriver)
Well, if you really worry about melting the o2 sesnor wires with the cat. shielf off. Just put some electric tape around the o2 sensor wire or some of those black alarm loom they use to cover the alarm wire in the engine bay during installation.
