Car start delayed sometimes

Car start delayed sometimes
when i turn the key to crank the car, sometimes it'll just be silent for like a few seconds, longest its been is around probably 10 seconds. and then all of the sudden the car will start to crank. sometimes it'll start right away. any ideas?
