my car doesnt start. I heard clicking and i asked around. people said it was the starter so i put a new one in. IT still doesnt start....is it the battery??

 

try your friends battery you mentioned in the other thread, if it doesn't work, it could also be your alternator or your battery cables (if they are old and corroded they won't work well either).

 

yeah...my friend also said it could be the alternator. An alternator is pretty expensive right?

 

Depends on what alternator you want. Different alternator outputs different amps.
I'm sure its pretty cheap for you.

 

Does the battery have juice? If so your grounds are the first thing to check.

 

i dont think it has juice. When we drove it my brother stalled. when he started it back up, it wouldnt start.

 

someone said it could be the belts not working right. could that be it?

if the belts weren't working right they would be squeaking.

 

Can you push start it? If the thing runs after push starting, i'd turn my attention to the battery or starter.

But, you said you changed out the starter, so maybe try a new battery?

Oh, and try disconnecting the positive to the battery when the car is running. If the car doesn't stall/stutter when it's removed, then your alternator should be alright.

I guess i've learned a few new things since my car stopped working

 

I havent tried push starting it, but it isnt the starter because i put a new one in. I also think the alternator is alright because i took the pos wire when it was running.
