cant shift

Default cant shift

i have a 1998 gs and for the past few days i have trouble shifting into lower gears. sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldnt. the shift *** would be in neutral and when i try to shift it to first or second it wouldnt allow me. after shaking it around for a bit then it will work. any ideas?

check the linkage it could be loose.

or you gearbox is about to jam permanently, Thats how mine started now It doesnt move out of fith. The little ball bering in the shaft that holds it in gears has jammed. Yours could be starting to do the same.

So try the linkage and then some more MTF, And save some extra money for a rebuild or replacement gearbox.

before you go nuts replacing the tranny, or tearing the tranny apart, check your shift fork. my teg did that a few months back and it turned out the shift fork had come loose.

or you could need to bleed your slave cylinder.

would it be best to replace the master cyc. and change out the slave cyclinder at the same time??
