Default CAI ??

I can get a real good deal on a CAI for my 2000 ls but he had it on a gsr...will it still bolt up and if i do not want to use the cold air part like when it is raining, can i just take it off and put the filter at the end of the short intake?

I think the intake manifold's are different between an LS and a GS-R so I'm not sure if it will fit. Don't quote me on this so search and find out. Either way I've heard of people mounting GS-R CAI to Skunk2 manifolds so you may be able to mount it either way.

You could take off the filter and the intake and mount the filter directly to your throttle body if you MUST drive in the rain. Best way to avoid that is to not drive at all when it's wet out. Also be really careful.

nope the cai won't fit, because the position of the throttle body and intake manifold on a Gsr are different from the position from the Ls.

nope... like they said teh intake manifold is totally different causing the throttle body inlet to be way lower on teh gsr than it is on the ls. But.. if it makes u feel any better, you could make a type r one to fit heheheh.

unless you plan on driving through 2' rivers of water when it rains, dont bother to make it an SRI.

Yea, don't worry about hydrolock unless you dive into super deep water. Just drive carefully. Avoid standing water, and I used to put the clutch in whenever I couldnt avoid puddles...don't know if it helped, but I never hydrolocked.

How much do you want for you CAI? I dont know i would rather be safe then sorry about the intake and water because I have had two frineds a civic hatch and a 2.3-2.2 hybrid that locked up because of water. Its worth the 10 min it takes to swap it in the garage when you know its goin to poor.
I found a cheap CAI on e-bay for $35. Its powdercoated so it will last, just buy a K&N fitler for it and I am set. I dont know if i trust the filters that come with those cheap *** intakes. Its a possiblity.
