Default CA Refered!!!! Need help!!

I was pulled over by a CHP and had to pop my hood and he got me for modified smog becase I have an intake with no carb sticker and a breather. Also I was in trouble for my headlights not being 22"s from the ground, no baffle on my Magna Flow exhaust, and not having my front license plate mounted to my front bumbper. My engine is a 94 GSR in a 96 LS and it passes smog legit, but I am told that I have to put a 96 LS motor or newer in my car in order to pass the refree because the engine cannot be older than the shell. What do I need to do to pass the state ref in CA?

You cannot have an older model engine in a newer chassis. Your going to have to get an obd2 motor to be able to ref the engine or merely just pass it. You need all the smog and emission devices for an obd2 engine i.e. evap, purge, intake box, exahust manifold...etc and important thing is a good cat, but you must have an obd2 cat converter, because at ref inspection, they will not hesitate to check everything.

thanks a lot ek-g6. I have a cat on the car, but how do you tell if it is an obd2 cat converter and can you give me a list of all the parts I will need to pass the refree?

To pass just need to be stock like any other stock integra 96 and up of course. Need all your emssions vacuum plugged and routed correctly. Make sure no CEL is present, no surging idles, and definitely no exposed or unplug wires. If you know another guy with your same year or newer year integra, just copy all the the components for smog.

mind if I ask what are you were in when you got pulled over? Bay Area, LA? I just read so many of these posts with people getting their hood popped recently, it's scary.

just be careful no matter where you are in Cali. Bigger cities like LA or bay area are notorious for people gettin hoods popped. Like I always say to alot of my friends "don't give them a reason to pull you over." all it means is keep your exaust quiet, don't drop your car so much, and don't put anything on in plainsight that would cause suspicion of racing toward yourself. I've seen my friend get pulled over for having tach and that was grounds for police to pop the hood. Ever since fast and the furious came out cops are cracking down on soo called "racing". To everybody in Cali, be careful and hope to see the number of post containing ref, bar,or hood popped, go down. Especially in LA where they resorted to crushing cars instead of state ref!

I am located in CA in a town about a hour and a half away from LA called Wasco which is right before Bakersfield. CHPs are in town right now because a lot of them will be getting laid off come November so they will pull you over for any reason they can so keep those head lights 22" from the ground, keep the front license plate on your JDM front ends some how, and drive carefully.
