well as topic states, im having ac issues. i was on my way home from work today and all of a sudden my ac's not blowing cold. everytime the compressor turns on the belt makes a loud squeek and the fans turn off. then the fans will start goin again and as soon as the belt squeeks again the fans turn off.. and this is an on going process over and over. Im guessing maybe the belt needs changed? worse case senerio the compressors going bad?

 

Try turning the compressor over by hand (with the motor OFF obviously). If you can turn it, check belt tension.....other wise the compressor is locked.

 

ill give that a shot. if this helps people out.. i went out and started it a few minutes ago and the ac works fine, until u give the car gas.. then it starts doin what i described in the beginning of this thread..

 

sounds to me like your A/C clutch may be dying.

turning it by hand, the clutch should be smooth like a ball bearing.
if there is resistance, then the clutch is locking up.

 

figured out the problem.. there was to much frion in it.. this being my first time recharging a ac system.. it was completely empty.. and i asked the guy at the part store how much it took.. and he said 3 cans.. i put 2 in it because i was workin on a leak and after i fixed the leak i put another can in and thats when it startin acting weird. i looked at the tag under the hood today and its only suppose 2 take 2 cans.. i drained a can out of the system and now it works fine.. just goes to show never listen to parts people who have no clue what there talking about obvisally.
