the button by the clutch....
i have a 96 gsr, and i was taking a look at the pedals because i was planning on getting some itr pedals and i noticed a button that pops up once the clutch is depressed...what is this button for?
thanks
thanks
There are two switches connected to the clutch pedal. The first is part of the ignition interlock system -- car won't start unless the clutch is pushed in, and this is why.
The other switch is for cruise control. Tells cruise to shut off when the clutch is pushed. The reason for these switches is that there is no signal sent to the ECU for clutch like there is for brake.

Does this apply to all integras? If so, lets say I was to turn the key without pressing the clutch, will the engine TRY to start it, then go off, or will it electronically block the engine from getting started?
The cruise control switch is only there if your car has cruise control, and I believe the clutch switch is not on Japanese market cars.
Try it out for yourself. Turn the key without the clutch in and it won't do a damn thing. This is because it requires that clutch switch to close the ignition circuit.

why dont Japanese cars have the ignition cut off mechanism for the clutch in their cars? Are they trying to say that Americans are too dumb to take it out of gear before they start their car?
JK, I always think about how much easier it would be to start my car when I am outside of it without that switch. It can be a hassle to get in the car to start it when I just want to start it from the outside through the window or something, not that big of a deal though.
