check and make sure you don't have any oil or coolant leaking off of the front or rear of the head gasket or PCV system. maybe run it through a compression test and a leak down to make sure it's all straight.

You planning on tearing the motor down to check bearings and what not?

good luck

Well he said it was just completed in the last year, with ~10k miles on it.

No leaks from what I've seen.

He also said it has nearly 13:1 compression.

I would prefer not tearing it down if I didn't have to, but if it will save me future problems I guess I will have too.

it wouldn't kill you to run a leak down and compression just to keep peace of mind, at least I would.

as far as preventive maintenance...you don't really need to tear the engine down. just run the numbers on your leak down and compression test and make sure they're up to par.

At this point you basically have to trust that he put in new oil and water pumps.

One of the main reasons why I bought the car was that it was so clean, exterior, interior, engine etc... It seems like it time was taken on it.

Well I'm going to get someone to run those tests.

Any other advice? haha

Do I need Eagle Rods? How much would they cost to be installed?

Thanks!

i'd check piston to valve clearances so you dont bend a valve later on

Are you just going to be running pump gas?

13:1 sounds a bit high for pump

Are you using racing fuel ? 0.25 ctr's sound too much of a compression for
ls v-tec if thats correct your running the risk of detonation,if your using street gas,
also what kind of rods are you using? stocks or after market? thats very important
i seen a lot of people having failures in that part including myself even if you use arp rod bolts, anyhow you have a clean motor and car i tink is worth
taking some time to make sure you are good to gun the $hit out of it with out worries

Well he said Nearly 13:1 compression, personally I have no idea at this point.

He said he was running 93 octane, and Mobil 1 synthetic.

I don't know what Rods are in it. That's why I'm asking how much it'd cost to put some Eagle Rods in it...

I still have to get some things from the guy, so I need a list of things to ask him haha.

When it cames to lsv-tec you have to be very carefull, its all up to you ,how bad you're going to abuse your car! , H-beams 4340 eagle rods with 3/8 arp rod bolts
would be my choice they go for $340 on ebay, and do a fine tunning on rod&main
bearings, some people are happy with acl race series ($75-$90) i have those i my gsr and they seem to take that beating better than hondas ,the only problem is they only came in std size(thats same as color code green in honda)
and or over size, that i would try ,or you can do honda's color coded for a fine tunning "more precision" ,try to make sure 100% what's your compression ratio , if you're at 13:1 i belive you're at risk, don't rev it too high unless you use
race fuel
