Brake light problem.
I have a problem with one of my brake lights. When I have the parking lights on, the bulb lights up. When I push the brake, it doesn't. I know it's a dual filament 1157 bulb and the taillight seals are pretty much shot (I have new ones that have been sitting on for the last year or so, long with 98-01 housings). When took the bulb out, both filaments were intact, but I didn't have time to swap the bulbs. I did notice there was a bit of corrosion on the bulb itself. I'm hoping the connector isn't messed up. Any preliminary thoughts?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Even though the filaments looks intact, I would try changing them any. If it still does not work then clean up the contacts in the connector. A multimeter would help to see if you are getting any voltage also.
Bulbs are only like 2-3 bucks for a pair, just go to Autozone and get yourself another set. Chances are, even though you can't see it, the filament is still fried and that's why you are not getting any light from it.
you could test the connectors w/ a multimeter while a friend pushes on the brake pedal but more than likely its the bulbs... I had a similar experience where the bulb filaments looked OK.. then I got new bulbs and it worked like a charm... I got a magnifying glass to look at the filaments of the old bulb and w/o the magnifying glass you couldn't tell but w/ it you could tell a SMALL portion of the filament was broken..
I swapped the bulbs and unfortunately nothing happened. It's probably a connection in the socket. The parking light works but when I step on the brake, it goes out on the outside. (sigh) I'll have to look in that Hayes manual to see what wire is the brake and which is the parking and splice into the wire to measure it with a multimeter. And those new tail lights and seals are going in. It serves me right for sitting on them for so long. Worse comes to worse, I'll just need to buy a new socket.
Frigging leaky taillights.

brake light wire is green/black at driver's kick panel ( in black wrapping with purple electric tape near the hood lever) [for 99 gsr]....this might be the same for all integra or of that year, but i m not sure. check to see if the bulbs are messed up. if not, check if ur getting any voltage in the sockets first and if u are, its a connection problem in the socket. just get a flathead screwdriver and pry the contacts a little higher so it makes contact with the bulb when u put them in.
It is the driver's side brake light. When I turn the lights on, it lights up, but when I press on the brake, it doesn't. The passenger side light works fine. I had some alarm work done recently, so I'll check out the kickpanel. Do you know if it is separate wire runs going to the left/right and 3rd brake light? Thanks.

nope, just one 14 awg wire that runs through the driver's side. the parking lights and the brake lights are different filament. they have nothing to do with each other. if one side of ur brake light works and the other side don't, its not a wiring problem. its probably a connection problem at the contacts in the socket. check those and come back and tell us what's up.
