Is this a big problem (pic inside)?
2 days ago I popped the hood and saw the hose connected to the shortram intake snapped off (circled in green in the pic). I don't know how long I've been driving without noticing it, probably a week or 2 weeks. So I cut the broken part of the hose out and connected them again. Then again today the same part cracked. So I cut out a portion again and reattached it. Does it mean that the hose has weaken and I should get a new one? or something else? Has it done a lot of harm to my teg since I've driven my teg unnoticed of this problem for a week or so?
btw, what is the function of that connection?
sorry, engine bay is kinda dirty..hehe

It shouldnt have caused any harm. If you are really worried about it, just get a new hose. Cant be mor than a few bucks. And then you wont have to worry about it.
I use those small clamps that were on the orignal hoses, it's been a week, so far so good
I would like to know what that hose is connected to. There are 3 different connections to the metal thingy and it gets really hot after the car runs for awhile.

If you follow that connection it I think it should run right into your valve cover. Has something to do with the positive crankcase ventilation (PVC). I don't think it's a going to be a large problem, other than maybe not looking so nice. I'd still think about throwing a little cash down and get another hose. Did you do that mod yourself? You should have some little metal clips that would hold the hose onto the connections. If you could locate some of those it would be able to hold that hose on there tight.
Ok, here's the breakdown on the hoses. The one that runs to the intake is a breather hose, it allows excess gasses that build up in you head to escape via the intake. I recommend removing this and plugging the hole on the intake with a bolt or something, and putting a small breather filter on the exit point of the valve cover.
The other hose, which should be the bottom hose, is a coolant line, it runs from right around your thermostat, rear middle left of engine while looking from the front of the car, to your throttle body or intake manifold, depending on year and engine. I alwayz get a piece of similar coolant hose to replace this one so i can completely remove the metal "center" piece, since you eliminated the breather hose. Remember though, if your car has been running, this will be hot because it has coolant in it, but it does look alot cleaner when you take out the metal piece.
If you have a question, email me.

I had a fun time with that coolant hose while installing my CAI a couple days ago. If you want to remove the metal piece just beware b/c water and coolant's going to flow like the Mississippi for a minute or so. Put something under your car to catch as much of it as you can and not end up vacuuming and mopping the garage floor like I had to do.
