Default best solution for broken a/c condensor?

like the title says, i have a broken a/c condensor.

specifically, the a/c clutch unit froze up and broke.

so i took it out, now it is hot as hell and getting hotter as we speak!

is it best to buy a complete new unit? or rebuild it?
what can possibly go wrong with a used a/c condensor unit?

mine worked ok before it died. it was cold air, but not as cold as i have seen in other cars. suggestions?

A compressor isn't THAT expensive. I believe that you can get just the clutch replaced on it, and if the whole thing is broken, then look around on craigslist, ebay, or a junkyard.

There are a lot of people getting rid of their A/C for turbo setups or for "weight reduction" purposes, so finding one for cheap is easy! They're in pretty low demand on these cars. I bought an ENTIRE A/C unit for my old civic with absolutely every piece for $100...
