Battery Tie Down Question
I bought my car without a battery tie down and was told it is very important to have a tie down so that the plates inside the battery do not shift and short it. Also, so the positive lead does not touch the fuel filter. Is this true?
Also, I was looking to buy J hooks at Autozone but they only had 8 and 10 inch ones. 8 inch seems too short when measuring, and 10 inch will pop through the hood. In this diagram, how long is part number 3?

Get the 10" ones and bend them to your liking.
It is important to have a battery tie down so that in the event of an acident, the battery is less likely to short and catch the car on fire. On top of that, you don't want it bouncing around in the engine compartment.

my battery tie down brace, litterally rotted, replacing with an oem one is expensive unless you get one free from a junk yard, i went to Lowes and bought a 3ft stick of flat aluminum bar and just cut it to desired length, drilled holes, instant tie down bar, works great, but i have no suggestion for making a j-hook
