Default B18C5 differences in year

what is the difference between the PRE 1996 B18C5 and the 1996 and ^ B18C5 motor, cosmetic looks the same, hp and torque ratings the same.....why are the 96 b18c5 SPEC's more costly?

There is no 1996 B18C5. If you're referring to the 96-spec JDM ITR's B18C, my only guess for someone charging more would be the fact that it's a bit rarer than the newer 98-spec B18C's.

96 spec itr's are usually cheaper than 98 spec

98 spec has the 4-1 header and the 99-00 has the more aggressive cams, 98 spec also has a 4.7 final drive compared to the 96 specs 4.4 final drive

The intake camshaft is different.
USDM 97-98: 14111-P73-J00
USDM 00-01: 14111-P73-J01
JDM 96-97: 14111-P73-J00
JDM 98-01: 14111-P73-J01

The throttle body differs on some of the JDM engines as well. All USDM and JDM 96-97 have a 62mm throttle plate. The JDM 98-01 is slightlky larger. As mentioned before, the 98-01 JDM also has a 4-1 header. All USDM and JDM 96-97 has a 4-2-1 header.

while the 98 spec may have the 4.7 final drive the 96 spec has a shorter 4th which makes the performance almost exact.
