Default B18C1

Anyone know where I can get a B18C1 engine and tranny??? I do NOT want the JDM B18c, because I have no desire to do all the work to make it pass emissions/inspection. I have been looking at hmotorsonline frequently, and all they seem to have is the JDM B18C, so what other sites can I check????
Thanks

I understand this hate against jdm stuff. A Japanese spec B18C has higher comp pistons that make the extra 10hp....otherwise it's the same engine

Sometimes the intake manifold might vary slightly, if it does, just buy a used usdm manifold dirt cheap and swap it on, should be it

Just the "CKF trick" that's it I have a 98 ITR in my Rs...passed our strict southern Ontario (Canada) laws. just trick it to not look for the CKF sensor google it, its real easy.

Sice the CKF is intigrated into the oil pump, could i just swap a B18C1 oil pump into the JDM engine?

If you live in CA, it's a lot more complex. If you live in a state that just does OBD port emissions pass/fail without inspection, it's very easy: CKF trick, run a T-fitting to the manifold, use a USDM ECU for emissions.

Again...if you live somewhere where there's actually an inspection...a JDM motor is more difficult to pass. You'll have to buy a bunch of USDM parts...including the manifold and oil pump.

The CKF is bolted onto the oil pump. not integrated. But it requires removing the oil pan, T belt, and components. Your oil pan will leak if you don't put it back on exactly correctly, using the exactly correct Honda bond and torque specs and method.

Also, you will only want to buy a HONDA OEM oil pump....which is around $220. And you'll need the CKF sensor. IDK what the scope of your swap is. You'll also need a USDM lower timing cover.

why not just put a usdm ls in for emissions ? they are dirt cheap here like 3-400 for a good one. about 4-5 hours total time to swap it in, not even if you have air tools. where do you live OP?.

not sure what my fastest swap time is...removal is an hour for me with a tucked bay so its just a few clips/plugs.

Looks like I will just be doing the CKF trick then and swap a USDM mani. I live in Colorado and all the do for emissions is OBD diognostics. So I should be fine doing that. This will be my first swap ever.

You don't need a USDM manifold.

You just need a T fitting to route the PCV and evap into one port on the JDM manifold.

You'll need a USDM ECU and the CKF trick.

And a USDM header of the correct year

My buddy has a Skunk2 Ultra Series Intake mani from his USDM b18c swapped civic that he said he would give me. What would the process be to make that work? Still gotta do a T fitment or will everything just "go together"

Not quite $220.... but you've never been wrong so must be a typo on the dealership website.

Why the need for the USDM cover? The lack of CKF would mean more clearance under the cover wouldn't it?

Ha! Just looked. Sure enough, pumps are $109ish on bernardiparts.com. Cheap city.

But yeah...no...I'm never wrong. So I'll find a way to he right.

And if you buy the USDM pump and CKF, you'll need a USDM cover because you'll be running a CKF. Otherwise the JDM cover would obviously work with the JDM pump.

I think you *might* still need to do the T fitting thing. I'm pretty sure I had to do it with my skunk2 manifold.

I wouldn't do a single stage manifold on an otherwise stock B18C.

Colorado only checks for catalytic converters and sniff tests besides that your fine
My forester passed with emissions CELs so no worries

Ah I see, I was confused. I thought you were referring to the CKF delete requiring a lower USDM cover. Not sure why now that I reread it all.

If it was my personal swap I would just do the CKF delete trick. Less unnecessary parts and work.

You never listed you year/make/model so the CKF part may not even apply unless your car is 96 or newer. If it is and Colorado doesn't do plug in emissions testing just get the JDM ECU with the swap kit and you won't have to deal with it at all.
