I have a fully built 98 b18c in my 92 civic hatch.
i ran the car for the first time ever 2 weeks ago for 20 mins to check everything and make sure i had no leaks and what not. everything was perfect. ran nice, quiet and solid.
well today i fired it up and i started very quickly (like it should) and i only ran it for about 5 secs because it sounds like a diesel. i am confident its not a rod knock because i had 50 psi of oil pressure and i hadnt started it between today and the first time.
im thinking something along the lines of ignition. idk what detination sounds like or preignition. it didnt do this last time.
in the time between i took off the intake and everything with it to put a bigger TB on and slighty bore in intake where the TB bolts up. cleaned up nicely.
ASK AWAY WITH THE QUESTIONS TO HELP ME GET THIS SOLVED.
after research other cars have problems with the timing belts and get this sound. mine didnt jump time but what else could it be?
THANKS, DOUG

Well since you messed with the intake manifold that is going to be where you should start to look for problems. First, make sure you connected everything back up correctly. Check and re-check, even if you think you were right the first time. If absolutely nothing changed besides your intake manifold work then that is going to be the problem. Did you try to rev it up a little bit after you started it?
If the IM is hooked up correctly and you are sure nothing else is wrong with the IM, I would check the timing and ignition next, but I dont see how that would change if you did nothing to it for 2 weeks.
