Hey guys,
I want to try making a welding jig for making downpipes.
I was gonna look for some blown/trashed bare B18C blocks. But I wanted to know if I could use a b18A/B block as well. I have a spare B18C oilpan and I wanna bolt that up to the b18A/B block, but I dont know if it will bolt up. I should also be able to use a B16 head for this jig too right? since the exhaust pattern is the same for B16 and B18C, but it's the intake manifold bolt pattern that is different?
TIA

The B18C oil pan will not fit on the B18A/B block.
The exhaust manifolds are interchangeable between the B18C and B18A/B and if you put a B16 head on the B18A/B, it will not change your downpipe clearance of the oil pan.

It will for the purpose of creating a welding jig, it'll bolt up just fine actually. If you're actually trying to create a running motor then you have to invest in other things to make it work, but as far as this is concerned there should be no problems whatsoever. And the The LS blocks are the same height as the VTEC blocks.

Thanks for the replies guys,
I'm not looking to make a running motor, just something that will have the same external dimensions as a B18C block w/ B18C head. I was gonna buy a blown B18C or B18a/b if those blocks will work. If the block and head were completely bare on the inside that would be even better cause it would be easier to handle on the engine stand.
