B18b or B16?
i got 2 blocks setting in my garage, B18b and a B16a. I'am going 2 build 4 boost, I leaning towards the b16 cause i have a b16 tranny, cause wit the ls the gears would b 2 short and most of my driving is on the high way. This is going into a 94 teg, i would do an ls vtec but i dont like the setup for reliabilty issues. I figured if i put the b16 in it would be just as fast as an ls, even though people always hate on B16's. But tegs are not that much heavier than civic si's and they are supposed 2 run a 15.7. So i figured it wouldn't b bad to just put the b16 in 4 now into i get some money together 4 my setup. What u all think i should do? Always open 2 opinions

the B16 tranny will bolt up to the B18 block.
you have it backwards. the LS is actually geared taller than the B16 is.

Since you plan to go turbo, I would go for the B18 (more displacement, lower CR). And I'm sure there are dozens of people out there who'd gladly trade their LS tranny's for your B16 one.

He said he wants to go turbo... LS/VTEC + turbo = lots of trouble unless you REALLY know what you're doing and plan to invest LOTS of money (unless, of course, you're capable of doing all of the work yourself...).

i have a friend that has a 99 si wit i/h/e, and he runs a 15.4 at the track on street tires. So i think ill be good wit it in my teg, its only in the mean time till i build my spare b16 short block, its getting pistons and rods with a block guard. So iam not boosting a stock block, cp dosnt matter on what motor, cause iam putting in lower cp pistons anyway. I know ls turbos are fast, i know some 1 who has it in a hatch, and it pulls sick on every one. I also know ls trannies are easy 2 find, but ive always been non vtec and supported all those who build them and whip on vtec motors. But its time 2 try something new, so thats why iam building a b16 boost. Even though the b16 doesnt make alot of torque, boosted they do pick up, plus the fact that 2 much torque on a fw drive car isn't good ither.
soooooo, do u want to get rid of that low geared B16 tranny and get yo self one sick as LS tranny! Just think about it, u'll be cruisin on the highway at 80mph at only 3.5K rpms instead of 4.5! Lets trade

Unadultered fiction in it's most pure form. I think the "swing and a miss" comment quite effectively hit the nail on the head.
