Default automatic tranny question

i guess i never noticed this before...but like from a stop...if i immediately go to half throttle, the car pulls ok to about 3 grand, and then distinctly pulls harder and sounds different [don't flame, but it sounds like a tiny little vtec crossover....and I KNOW IT ISNT...so dont flame]

is this where the stock torque stall is?

PROLLY YOUR TRANNY SLAMZ EACH GEAR. UR PROLLY GASIN IT TOO HARD FOR EVERY GEAR. "EVEN THOUGH ITS AN AUTO MATIC".

DOES YOUR RPM GO DOWN WHEN IT KICKS?

Holy ****, what the hell is this?? Lay off the CAPS LOCK TOO, y0!

Anyway, an automatic transmission can be very strange at times, which is why many people don't like it, they feel like they don't have full "control" over the car.

The ECU reads many things and uses these things to shift the transmission. These things can include load, throttle position, humidity, etc. Many things.

Can you describe the sound some more? I doubt it's something wrong. Most likely the tranny just shifting at an inopportune moment (i.e.: at a time you don't expect it to).

Remember, just like a manual transmission, an automatic has gear ratios. Depending on the rpm, gear, and speed, it may pull harder at times. Perhaps after you got the 3000rpm, there was more mechanical advantage due to the gearing, so you felt more of a pull?

its not shifting at 3...if i'm at half throttle it usually shifts around 5....but the exhaust tone just gets a little bit deeper, and it feels like the the tranny is locked up....similiar to when your engaging the clutch, from when it first starts to grab, to when its fully engaged

your tranny reacts differently depending on your throttle aggressiveness. when you say it pulls crazy, thats the transmission going into heavy load mode, almost every automatic car does the same thing when you floor the gas pedal. its perfectly normal man.

Maybe it's locking up at the wrong time? Or is it always like this? My '98 Accord is the only auto, but I can often feel it locking. It's more subtle than a shift, but if the road is smooth you can feel it.
