Automatic seatbelt conversion
First thing's first. I did a search, came up with nothing. I don't expect this to be a common topic, most people think it is probably a waste of time and money haha.
Anywho, over the time I've had my car I noticed the automatic seatbelts are sort of annoying. I've had problems with them getting stuck, going up and trying to crush me in my seat because the belt doesn't extend, having it smash into my visor when I turn the car off, getting strangled when turning the car on from outside and so on. Plus, they have been a saftey issue with the chance that the buckle may break and I don't really want to deal with them anymore.
I am now looking to install manual seat belts, or, a manual seat belt for the passenger side since I'll be putting a racing harness in the driver side. Does anyone have some information on how to go about doing this? I figure it should be fairly simple, after I get the automatic belt out anyways. Would their be any complications with the computer since it won't detect the automatic belt anymore? Can I go about bolting a new buckle to the chassy? There is just so much I could be overlooking here. Any ideas and information would be extremely helpful. I'm wondering if anyone has ever even done this....

ok, you are gonna completely change teh drivers side so lets leave that side alone.
the passengers side, wouldnt it be easier to unplug the automatic seatbelt motor? when its at the high point (when the door is shut) just remove the power source from the motor. if this effects safety i dont know, you will have a regula seat belt. you can just remove the buckle from the housing when a passenger want to get out.

I heard about people doing that (buckling and unbuckling the shoulder harness) manually simply because of a defect in the belt system. I was looking to make it more of the one piece pull down belts they have on most cars. The practical kind. I think it would be really nice to have lol. Hell maybe I'll change both for now if I can manage to get the parts cheap or free.
I'm just wondering the mechanics of it. My worry is how I will have to secure the belts to the frame so it can function like a normal seat belt and not break in the event of an accident. My car will even be a little more unique.

well, a junkyard is the 1st place to start. i dont know much about gen 2 integras, so i dont know if all the models came with power seat belts. if they did, they you will have to make your own mounting holes in teh frame of teh car for teh belt housing. the part that teh buckle goes into, by the lower part of the seat, that is just attached to the frame of the seat.
i know there is a g2 integra site, i think its g2ic.com or something?

goto g2ic, go in the canada WTB forum and put up a post saying you are looking for the full seatbelt setupincluding post, the Canadian G2 tegs came with Manual seatbelts instead of automatic seatbelts, so if you can find someone there that might want to put in automatic or that is parting out there car you could pick up all the parts needed to completely convert it. I can't give you valid information, but I will say more power to ya just because I hate those damn automatic seatbelts. I think they're a safety hazard to begin with, and my friend's automatic seatbelt from his DA scraped my whole set up when I had my head leaned to the side and opened the door.

I definitely agree. Hell I swear they are meant to kill their passengers. Sometimes the reel down next to the seat doesn't allow the belt any slack, so when it comes up after starting the car it literally tries to crush you in your seat. It is horrible! Besides that it would just be cool to have manual belts again.
Easier since you won't be forgetting that lap belt anymore too.
Speaking of which maybe I'll try and make a tutorial of some sort for doing this. Someone, some where has to want to do this also....
