that video has to be fake. Do you not see the RPM's go up to almost 3k before the Spedo even moves.

Everyone is going to tell you to do a swap.

The idea of boost holding between gears is awesome, except for the fact that it will destroy your tranny. If you really want a boosted auto, I would recomend building up the tranny.

i knew a few automatic integra guys 8-9 years ago.

subject a. - drag turbo kit stock block stock everything fmu out of box kit
subject b. - built *** LS-Vtec with JG cams and JG headwork
subject c. - turbo CRV 4wd

here's what they all had in common when i used to chit chat with them:

"the automatic tranny sucks up all the power"

so even beyond them breaking parts or whatever...it wont exactly be that much faster.

also look into the gearing and torque multiplication compared to a gsr or type R transmission. a lot of the acceleration from those cars comes from their numerically high gearing.

if you have an automatic transmission integra, and you dont want to do a conversion or sell your car, concentrate on suspension and sticky tires and go to an autocross.

some people prefer it, just like you prefer your 5 speed cars? is it that hard to understand?

geez some people make it seem like automatic teg owners are losers or something, like owning a manual teg is left only for the gods of men. get over it people, manual or automatic its still just a 15 year old economy car.

maybe the car was a gift, maybe its all he could afford at the time, whatever.

No ones busting your *****.

If you want to go LS automatic turbo go for it. We cant stop you this is just an internet forum. Were not gonna tell you how to spend your money.

You came to this forum for advice or answers.

Heres to answer your questions:
Your tranny will hold up only for a certain amount of time. Either built it up or your gonna pay an arm and leg swapping out busted trannys. I personally havent seen any turbo automatics but it kinda makes since to hold a bit of boost while it AUTOMATICALLY shifts gears.

If you have the money to turbo it...... just invest on swapping out the tranny then save up on buying turbo parts piece by piece. It sucks cause you dont have a turbo car but at least you wont have to pay a buttload of money to have it on the road.

If the car was a gift dont even think about turbo. Itll ruin your stuff in time. Plus gas prices are too high hence you have to upgrade injectors. I dont know how you are financially but its still a factor.

LS/Vtec>Turbo all day

a stock cam'd and stock piston'd LS VTEC automatic would probably just as quick as a bone stock LS 5speed. on a good day hahaha but hey you get to rock one of those NA is best stickers

well you are wrong. Spec R knows his ****...
i would agree that an ls-vtec auto would most likely beat an ls 5speed.

man we can continue this epic e-battle of ls/vtec vs turbo or face the facts.

Fact 1: our little 4 cylinder honda engines do NOT create a lot of torque in stock, or even modified form.

Fact 2: to mask/combat/solve Fact 1, honda makes its transmissions with very short (numerically high) gearing for easy torque multiplication. It works, because even with the relatively low torque numbers, our cars can still drive around town, and accelerate briskly.

Fact 3: Regardless if the guy wants to go turbo or LS/Vtec, his automatic trans has gearing like this

1-2.722
2-1.468
3-0.975
4-0.638

FD 4.357

In retrospect, a 5speed LS trans

1-3.230
2-1.900
3-1.269
4-0.966
5-0.714

FD 4.266

Lets assume at XXXX RPM the engine is pumping out 100 ft/lbs of torque to the transmission to keep things simple.

Automatic trans in 1st gear = 2.722 x 4.357 x 100 = 1185.9754 ft lbs accelerating the car

LS 5 Speed in 1st gear = 3.23 x 4.266 x 100 = 1377.918 ft lbs accelerating the car

So regardless if he goes ls/vtec or turbo, he still has an almost 200 ft lb disadvantage in acceleration. transmissions/gears do not see anything but torque. HP is an equation based on torque.

And if you look at the newer K-series and S2k gearing charts, the gears are even shorter (numerically higher)

Even if he slaps on an just an OKAY turbo kit, he's still going to gain way more torque than any 1.8L NA basic LS/VTEC setup. we all know that even the most extreme 1.8 NA builds still dont create more than 130-140 ft lbs to the wheels, hence the necessity of such short gearing. yeah there are NA racers out there pushing crazy numbers, but those are the race guys with fully bored out blocks and whatever else. if this guy decides to go turbo, the additional torque will over come his automatic trans gearing disadvantage.

regardless of what e-racing or whatever you've read on the net, or who you know or have a friend with this or that, those are the facts.

I was talking to a girl on cardomain that did it on her Integra with a Greddy kit. She is boosting 5 to 6PSI on a stock motor and trans for about almost a year and she is loving it. If your going to Turbo it make sure you get a Trans oil cooler. (I have one mounted on mine)

I'm thinking about doing the same but I'm in the process doing LS/VTEC in mine first but I do have the JDM SIR-G tranny and SIR-G ECU. It's a matter of few parts and then doing the swap.

I don't listen to people. I been driving manual for over 15 years. I Want something allot different and a sleeper and be proud that I did something different.

thanks for all the info. no longer have the 16g, so doesn't look like ill go turbo. unless i run into another but lots of people have been saying how auto turbo integra's tend to break fast. so maybe ill just stick to a couple bolt on's and just be happy a hair faster than stock. keep it getting good gas milage.
