Default Another STATE REF question....

i got refd today for having a loud exhaust..., ive searched and found alot of helpful stuff but i dont have a clear answer to my question...

i recieved a ticket for my exhaust which is a mega power sk2, and also for a Fuel railm, now my question do i just replace my fuel rail and put my stock exhaust back on, are they going to throw my car on the dyno? do they just check off the FL and exhaust?

reasons why im worried is becuause i have an lsvtec and if they put me on the dyno i KNOW i wont pass.

and my 2nd question, if i just pay for the ticket am i good to go. can i drive my car after i pay for my ticket or will i still have the state ref hold although i already paid for my ticket??

help is appreciated

i got pulled and ref'd already so i know how you feel.

i tried fixing it, took my turbo setup off, went to stock....still failed...

turns out he didn't like my injector wiring cut, he told me that way it would be easy to put some bigger ones on without a problem (he's good haha)

anyways..

they wont put it on a dyno, all the state ref does is pop your hood, makes sure everything (and i mean EVERYTHING) is stock. make sure all your vacuum lines are how they are supposed to go. the fuel rail is gonna have to go stock. exhaust can stay on as long as its cat-back... if its below 92dB (i think thats what it is) it will pass.

chances are you're still going to fail though, they're dicks.

after failing my first attempt i didn't even bother going back, i threw everything back on and just paid the fine, which was 324 dollars. after paying you're good to go...until you get pulled over again that is

how california got to be the modified import capital of this nation is beyond me.

Sometimes I want to just drive my car out to Cali and see if a cop would pull me over and ask to see under the hood, just because of the car I drive and the fact that it's lowered slightly. heh I have stock exhaust and bone stock engine bay so he couldn't do a damn thing, I just wonder if it would happen.

Stupid profiling.

They do check the head/block stamp and most likely they will find the lsv line.

Here's a tip. Make the car completely stock again. And i mean EVERYTHING. They check all CARB numbers to see if that system was made for that car. You can't fool these guys. They are pretty good at what they do. They run a thorough visual check, and if your car isnt too low, they will put it on the dyno as if you were doing a regular smog check. If it cant get on the dyno, they will just plug into the diagnostic port and do their tests in neutral. Good luck.

ok ive been to the ref several times, heres the low down, if u got a modified exhaust ticket, then u will not get put on the dyno, they will measure the db level in the parkin lot, and they measure it while holdin rpms at like 4k or so. u have to be under 95db's

if u got an underhood violation, then they will pop your hood in the parkin lot and do a visual inspection, if u pass their visual inspection, then u go onto the dyno for a smog check, but u have to pass the visual first. as stated before these guys really know their ****, dont waste your time trying to pull a fast one on them, cause they have seen it all.
if you have parts with carb #'s they will get online and make sure the parts are for your year make and model u can check your carb#'s here before u go to save yourself a headache http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/a...y.php

and yes, if its too much work making your car pass the ref inspection u can always just pay the ticket and not even try to ref it, just make sure u dont get pulled over again before u pay the ticket

I just got poped today, on my 97 gsr, cop got me for my B&M adjustable FPR. I can put a stock one back on, but will they check the block code also, and do a smog. I got a 95 gsr block and bc3 cams in my stock head. I know if they smog me i won't pass. Also, will they fail me for my skunk2 intake manifold, i got the evap hoses all hooked up, but the secondary butterfly sensors and plugs are just hanging there. How much more will I end up paying if I try to pass the State Referee and pass, will I get Bared or have to pay a huge fine?

I've been pulled over after being profiled, because my Integra is red and lowered.

Here's the conversation:

Cop: You know how fast you were going?
Me: Not really.
Cop: 37
Me: Isn't this a 35 zone?
Cop: Yes, really, I pulled you over because of your illegal aftermarket exhaust.
Me: Um, its a stock GSR exhaust.
Cop: It looks aftermarket to me, I need you to pop the hood so I can look for other illegal parts.
Me: Sure, why not...
Cop: Your charge pipe is also illegal.
At this point, I can't not laugh. About fall over laughing in fact.
Me: (sarcastic tone)Really? Someone added a turbo to my car and didn't tell me?
Cop: (Blank stare)
Me: The only way to have a "charge pipe" is to have a forced induction engine. This is a nearly stock Acura Integra GSR engine, with only an AEM cold air intake for modifications. Notice the giant C.A.R.B. EO# sticker, right there on top of it.
Cop: (Blank stare)
Me: Tell you what. Write me the ticket. Right now. Write "illegal charge pipe" on it, and please be certain to mention the "illegal exhaust", which is stock. I want the ticket. After you finish, if you'd like, you can follow me to the station while I go file a complaint. Would you please give me your badge number?
Cop: Please be on your way, sir.

Yeah. I love profiling. My car is lowered because I autocross it and attend HPDEs. I'll call people idiots for goofing on the street, track time is certainly cheap enough to get that stuff off public roads. Yet, I'm a "bad guy" for driving an Integra...

when u go to state ref they check everything so you need to put everything back to stock and ls vtec wont pass no matter what in california even if you pay off your ticket then what you goin to do when you get pull over again just a waist of money. PUT IT BACK TO STOCK AND DRIVE SAFELY!

hmm... I don't know if they'll run the block # to check and make sure it's the correct year.

95 was still OBDI and 97 was OBDII, right? Which one are you running?

Well car was originally obd2 but since my build i converted to obd1, I can easily reinstall my obd2 stock ecu and reinstall my stock gsr cams, but if they run my 95 gsr block number, i'll fail right? Also, what about the intake manifold, i gots a skunk2 pro series IM w/ the C.A.R.B. sticker but what about the secondary butterfly plugs from the stock IM just hanging, will i fail for that? I wanna know if its worth me trying to put everything back to stock or should I just pay the $350-400 fine and just call it a day.

Damn, i wish the cop that pulled me over was that dumn, this guy was good, he knew my car was idling rough and new i had cams, but he couldn't prove it, but he was still able to get me for my adjustable FPR, then he went and smelled my tailpipe and told me i was running rich, which is true cause my plugs confirm that. Also, he already knew my header, intake, IM and TB were C.A.R.B. legal before I even pulled out my stickers from the glove compartment. I think he was once a street racer himself, cause right when i popped my hood, he comented "nice mods"

Does the manifold not have the secondary butterflies or something?

Yes, you will fail if they run the block # and see it's too old.

what's the process of getting the 95 block certified for my 97 chassis? Is that another fine or fee?

thats not possible, your motor has to be same year or newer than your chassis your
best bet would be to ditch the adj fpr and then just pay the ticket, hopefully next time you get popped they wont catch anything else

I called the fresno county court house, they told me I can't just pay the fine, cause they know i'll just keep driving w/ an unsmogable car.

that court lied... i paid the fine. trust me it's possible. just show up to court, don't bother talking to the judge....

show up early in the morning, go to the window (where people pay their fines) and just pay it off, they wont ask you any questions.. after that you're off the system.
