Default Alternator stud help

i tried to replace my alternator yesterday in my LSVTEC yesterday; 93 LS block 99 GSR head. I took of the all the wiring and the top tensioner bolt. when i got to the bottom stud the nut on the stud was rediculously rounded off and i couldnt get it off. i tried everything offsetted sockets, vice grips, and still nothing. I have reached the conclusion I will have to cut the nut off the stud. I just need to figure out if anyone knows the thread size for the stud and nut. Also is it possible I could strip out the block when I remove the stud. Thanks!
