alt question

Default alt question

if you disconect the neg. side of the batt while the car is running, the car should continue correct? if it shuts off it is becuase of the alt? any hints?

This should come with a disclaimer warning. H2 + spark = boom!

Technically it should keep running.

You are going through batteries? Is your voltage high when running?

not sure. on the vafc it reads 11-13

Go to a parts atore and have them check it. It should be reading higher than 11-13V. Your alternator may be dead or dying.

is it easy to take out? can i drive the car and feel safe that it will start?

It should be a steady 13.4 volts to the battery at idle so if its charging at 11 volts at idle its not charging the battery enough since batteries should stay at a steady 12.6 volts or more after start. Sounds like your alternator is toast.

that is what i figured. car only has 65k on a 95 gsr
