Default alignments

i've heard of the firestone lifetime alignment 4 wheels i think for about 150.

im just wondering if they can do a decent job on a lowered car, im not looking for it to be like perfect for the track or anything... and if they will continue to do a good job and not get annoyed if i keep bringing it back for them to realign.

im thinking of doing this, because i just need one now, then later im gonna get new tires so thats another alignment, and within a year or two ill probably change suspension which means another one.

so im just wondering if they'll will do a decent job on a lowered car and also if they will actually do their job and not get pissed that i keep bringing it back.

Funny you bring this topic up. I've seen threads in the past discussing this and from what I recall, everyone who dealt with this service from Firestone was recommending it.

I may be wrong but from what I remember, some of Firestone's lift's will require you to use 2 X 4's or something to get up onto the lift is you're really low.

i went to a little service shop that did it for me for 55 dollars..my 2 fronts were so lowered that he couldnt get it perfect, he told me to get camber kit which i did and i came back, he perfectly fixed my camber and toe to 0-0.2 most.. it's now perfect , i've tried firestone, sears, both said i was too low, i went up alignment just fine at other place, and sears tried to said i needed all 4 balljoints changed 150 each..

so aslong as they can work on it, the settings arent that much different from OEM settings? aslong as they get it back to around 0? cuz i went to this shop and they said no they wouldnt do it cuz their machine is set to the manufactuer's settings and they told me to find a place that specialized in lowered cars.

I just lowered my car (98 LS) and I was lucky enough to find a firestone dealer with a younger guy working there who was kinda excited to work on my car. I think he spent the better part of 4 hours on it though...

Basically I have Koni Yellows and skunk2 adjustables on all 4 corners. I also have the skunk2 camber kit up front and adjustable camber in the back too. let me just warn you, IF you adjust your camber the toe WILL CAHNGE! I lowered my car and adjusted the camber and then checked the toe in the front (by measuring the distance between the front half of my left and right tire and then comparing it to the distance across the back half of the tires...) it was something like an inch and a quarter different!!! if you are within 1/16th or so you are good to go.

Its defenitly not a lifetime deal but it was worth the $$$. The guy said that the suspension was good but a little too stiff for him. if there is such a thing...

hope that helped

Josh

as far as the lifetime alignment being a good deal......it really depends on the shop....i have one thru tire kingdom and the guys there are really cool and dont give me any lip about my car being lowered or bringing it in too much or anything like that....the guy even lets me watch!.....so i'd say that itd be a good deal if you're able to actually use the service and the shop is cool to deal with! just my .02 cents on the alignment deals as a whole, havent actually had one w/firestone b4 allthough i have used them for alignment before and they were good!
