Default airconditioning problem

hi there, I'm a new subscriber to this list, but have a question for you seasoned integra owners, I have just bought a 89 integra with a da2 type engine. we have an electrical issue with the airconditioning, which we have established is not related to either the a/c switch or the little unit with the name HAC control.
if we take a direct live to the solenoid from the battery the clutch on the aircon pump will engage, has anyone encountered this problem, we have not got any circuit diagrams, and everything is labelled in japanese unfortunately, thanks in advance for any help. cheers Lucy

Try to get an AC wiring drawing (I don't own an '89). First think that comes to my mind is the pressure switch. It's SUPPOSED to shut down the AC when the pressure is too low. Like if the refrigerant has leaked out. It shuts down the AC by opening the circuit that triggers the compressor clutch.
