Air filter decided to fall off.
Ok, i popped my hood the other day to check on the car and noticed that my air filter was no longer attached to my intake piping. Fortunatly it could have only been running like that for that day and i had only driven about 5 miles. Right now i have it beautifully rigged on there with a combo of duct tape and rubber bands. However, i was wondering where i could find a K&N filter that would fit on there. Its an ebay short ram and i measured the pipe and its 3" diameter. If anyone knows where i should look i'd apperciate it. I made the mistake of going to pep boys and having one guy tell me how im ruining my car by using aftermarket parts and another talking to me about VTEC. great......Well if anyone can help out i'd appreciate it, thanks.
Yes but it was only from my friends house to mine so i doubt theres much damage. Any reccomendations on where to buy a 3" filter from?
umm..im sure autozone or oreilys has some KN filters..why don't you call AEM and ask a part number for their ITR filter. Then you can use that part number to go to Oreily's and order the fiter from them.

I'd look at eBay...I know it's not K&N but it should work. Only $17 or so...

wait.........didn't you buy the intake off of ebay? okay then why wouldyou get a K&N filter for a type R? hmmmm wow. lol. Dude just buy a ******* 3inch filter from a performance shop for like 25bucks and make sure they give you a clamp so you can tighten it onto the intake it self, and you should be good.

umm..wow...yeah....we said type R filter because the AEM type R intake uses a 3inch filter and thats what he needed....and i would think he would want a good filter like a K&N instead of a bullshit filter...remember..the bullshit filter is what fell apart, thats why he doesn't want another bullshit one!
My 2 cents,

P.S but hey...if you want to put cheap **** on your car...thats your perrogative...Id just figured since he already had bad luck with his BS filter that he would want to upgrade.

I called Automotive Engineering in Clearwater Fla. and the counter guy gave me the K&N part # . I bought the K&N filter for about $65. IT goes on so tight it'd never fall off. I use the stock airbox and pipe. Using the stock airbox and pipe was recommended in a hi performance Honda book I read.
It seems most of the benefit of a CAI is derived from the improved filter. I had and cheap aftermarket air tube and filter on my Civic. The filter on it was very sparse and looked like sand could just about pass through it. The K&N is of much better quality.

well maybe if he clamped the **** it would stay on and a "BS filter" can do the same as a "type R" filter its just the name of AEM that impresses people, but if you want to drive a civic with a muffler and motor swap that runs 16's hey.....thats your perrogative

I've had many friends who have had filters just fall apart...how do you know he didnt' have a clamp on it...i bet you he did have a clamp on it...and that the cheap *** filter fell apart...if it were so simple as to just be a clamp..why would he be asking for a new filter? The old filter fell apart..thats why, and i was giving him advice to get a better quality filter. Your a damn cheapskate..its your car for crying out loud, why put cheap **** on it..when its only 20-30 bucks more...either modify it right..or leave it stock..but dont' half *** it. Yeah..yeah..it maybe just a filter....and you may not notice it in the short run...but in the end..the K&N filters better than that cheap APC ****. So go screw yourself...you ******* newbie! I got an engine swap to autocross and race at the roadcourse..not to impress you with my 1/4 time.
