dont waste your money
a intake is just a pipe with a filter on it
dont waste youe money on anything name brand
just get a ebay no name intake for like 30 bucks and buy a k&n filter and your set

im pretty sure AEM spent lots of money into the design of there intakes to be one of the best in the market. but i would go with a ice box.

when will ppl understand that an intake is just a aluminum pipe. a aem intake pipe is just like anyother no name intake pipes. aem intake is a waste of money

i agree somewhat, but if you are really looking for an intake that DOES make power, try and find the ICEMAN cold air intake. we put my buddys car on the dyno with an AEM type r intake, and then put on the ICEMAN. The iceman made 6 more hp. Its made of plastic, so it stays cooler.

When will YOU learn that intakes are more than just pipes. True that the aem intake is the same as any other aem knock off since there is no difference is bends and design other than material used.

Depending on the particular motor setup, a well tuned intake can make a big difference to one that is inferior.

But if you are talking about a stockish motor, then just get any rice pipe you like.

</TD></TR></TABLE> I don't think 5 horsepower is a big difference, and what do you mean by saying "tuned" intake. We're not talking about all out race cars here, so yes, an intake isn't going to make a big difference at all.

I have the V2 in my car, but i'd still perfer the comptech icebox anyday. I just got a damn g00t deal on the v2... but anyways, Comptech took their time finding the best airflow you can get with their intake so you basically get what you pay for in this case. Sure an intake from ebay will still give you power, but is it really worth the grief of what you get with it? Dont get me wrong, but everyone wants the best increase in power and that means a regular intake from ebay just wont cut it.

Everyone's got their opinions on what intake they want to get, but imo comptechs is one of the best intakes you can get for the best bang for the buck.

make sure that if any intake, the filter is clean. If it aint it'll restrict over 30% of the air flow. AeM2's are nice. Especially on civics. But all that money on one mod that will not do too much......I say buy a generic one

The intake is one thing I really dont believe in skimping on. The AEM CAI made more difference on my 99 SI than the DC 4-1 header and HKS Hiper put together! Think about it.....performance all starts with incoming air. If you dont get the air in it wont matter what exhaust is letting it out. Buy a name brand intake and skimp elsewhere. Just my opinion.

I bought a AEM CAI v-1 pipe for my 98 gsr off ebay for $60 and put a Blitz filter on it . Maybe 4-5 horses gained at 5k up rpm range thats what im feeling. I havent put it on dyno, but did improve quarter time by .2 secs from 15.1 to 14.98 last year. If you can find a good deal on brand name parts get it.

I saw a test that was done with a bunch of name brand intakes, and the v2 was just about the same, it is mostly hype.

its not worth it.. i was thinking about getting so i did some research and asked a couple shops... there is a little gain.. but nothing worth 50 bucks more or anything like that... i ended up putting a 3 inch aem intake into my ls.. the intake was 3 inches because it was from a 97 R... im happy with the performance

If you had a different intake before this, does the V2 sound any different?
