Default adding a/c??

Okay, I have 2 DA tegs and one is just going to be a daily driver. Neither of which have a/c though so I would really like to add it to my daily driver. Someone local is pulling there a/c and said they would be willing to sell it to me and give me whatever I need to make it work, I just need to give him my non a/c stuff, i.e. like the climate control and other things.

So my question is how hard would it be to add a/c to a car that didnt originally come with it?? Has anyone on here done it before?? The actual parts I dont think will be that hard to put in, but all the wiring and electical stuff I'm not sure about. Is there just a harness or something I would be able to unplug and plug into my non-a/c teggy to make it all work? I can get all the stuff for pretty cheap, just dont know how hard (or if its even possible) to put in a car that never came with it originally.

or would I just be better off getting something like this, http://www.vintageair.com/

Its only like 10lbs and is electirc so no parasitic drag on the motor. I think its mostly for hot rods and stuff but they say they its universal so I dont see why it wouldnt work. Anyone on here using one or know of someone using one??

Sell or trade one of your other cars for one that has it.

I have a hard time believing taking all the time to sell one of my current cars and track down a similiar condition car with a/c for the same price I sold mine would take alot longer and be alot harder than just switching the parts on 2 cars. I have access to everything I need for about 200$, seems stupid to try and sell my car just for this option.

I truly think it's not worth the time and effort. That's like putting a power steering rack in a car that came without power steering.

You're better off getting a different daily driver that has what you want.

Just my $.02

man, you guys are waaaay off. Honestly, do you even know anything about it? I finallly said expletive it and started helping rip the a/c crap out of my buddies car. And about 6 hours later his a/c is totally stripped and installed in my car, it just needs to be charged. Wiring was very easy, just had to plug some harness in.

Seriously, 6 hours to uninstall in one car and reinstall in another and you guys wanted me to sell my car instead?? Crazy. Do you guys also just sell your cars and by a new one when you need to do a engine swap??

LoL, If I were in your position thats what I would do. I dont know how nice your car is either so....

If you REALLY like it and you couldent part with it then I would say go for it. I dont drive a P.O.S and I have built a few motors. A/C just isnt worth the work to me. Sounds like it worked out good though.

See, both my DA's are pretty damn clean for there age. I would have a hell of a time selling one and finding another one as clean in my area with a/c for the same price I sold it for.

It made things alot easier though having both cars next to each other for comarision. I dont know if I would want to try it without knowing exactly where everything is supposed to go. The car was obviously already set-up for a/c though, just didnt have it. All the plugs for the harness were already in my car and even all the little holes for brackets and stuff were predilled. I assume they just must set-up all the shells the same then just add the option if needed.

Now the real test is to get it charged on monday and hope everything works.
