Default acceleration problemas

Alright, from idle up to 3000 RPM, my car sounds like a old school Volkswagen Bug, why is that? I'm going to try and change my spark plugs and wires today, but I really need to know before I start any long distance driving.

Well, not that I know of... it just starts to act stupid on hot days... and the car has been running for awhile (i.e. I've been driving most of the day)
