ABS light
I did a search so please dont rag on me.
My abs light comes on about 1min after i start driving the car. So i do a search and see that most likely it's my e-brake sensor. I take off the panel to see the ABS unit so see if what code it's throwing. To my surprise it's not throwing any codes. So here are my questions....
1. When checking for a code should......
a) Run the car till the light comes on pull over and check to see if the
light is flasshing?
b) turn the keys but don't start the engine and then check for code
c) none of the above
2. I believe my rear drivers side caliper has seized. When i move the car
slowly the brake make a terrible squeeking noise. Could this cause the
ABS light to come on.
3. Can you unseize a caliper?
thanks for any help,
Neil

mine comes on after 30 seconds of driving and stays on...........i just checked the code just like as you would check an engine code. Mine ended up being my front passenger wheel speed sensor. Try pulling to see what code our abs is throwing. Your ecu stores that information even when you turn off your car.......
correct me if im wrong
i thought the abs system was only hooked up to the front calipers. therefore, if you had rear caliper problems, it would have nothing to do with abs.
is your rear rotor warped? are you sure the caliper is siezed?

can someone go over how you check the codes just to make sure i was doing it right. Also is there any way to tell if the rotor is warped or if it's the caliper?
thanks,
Neil

Undo the 10mm bolts that hold the sensors on and clean them. Also wipe the notched part of the axle that the sensor reads. When I yanked my motor a few weeks back I noticed they were all caked up w/dirt, grunge, etc.
