ABS Light On
Ok.. So my ABS light has been turning for for the past couple of days but its been so cold that I havent been able to pull them... well we got somewhat of a break in the weather today and i pulled the codes up and its code 18 which is the high pressure system and 21 which is the parking brake... but the thing this is the first time my ABS light has gone on other than when I turn the car off then turn it back on within a few minutes and lately its been really cold out to the point where my door locks are frozen every morning and my BRAKE light wont turn off even once the e brake is all the way down... So I searched real quick and found that some times these codes will come up when its really cold out... I also checked the acumulator which I believe is the gold colored cylinder behind the passenger side headlight and there is no fluid leaking out of it... Do you guys think that I can be getting these codes due to the cold weather? or do you think it can actually be a faulty part... Also is there anything else I can check for to help me determine the cause of my ABS light turning on? and if I do need to repair it how much do you think it would cost? because if I have to replace some things and it comes out to a huge amount ill just remove my ABS. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
How cold has it been? Cold weather can cause the valves in the modulator to stick resulting in a high pressure leak. Regarding the e-brake light, check your brake fluid level.
I just looked up the weather reports from the days my light would go on and its been anywhere from 5-20 degrees. I'll also check my brake fluid right now.
*Edit* I just checked my brake fluid and that must be the reason behind why my Brake light is on as you said because it's at the Min line. I should have noticed it but I have reservoir covers on, i'll go pick some up later today and fill it up. Im surprized that its low because it was full last time I checked but that was acouple months ago. Also I dont know what brake fluid is currently in my car so can you mix brake fluid? because im not sure if it has dot 3 or 4 in it right now. If not then ill just have to flush out the whole system.

ur pads r getting low thats why ur level went down. and u probably just have a bad sensor at the wheel sending the abs light on. happens all the time in the north
Theres no way my pads are low. They have less than 3k miles on them, and i doubt its my wheel sensor since I didnt get a wheel sensor code.

Thanks once again for all the help... Now ill just have to wait for the weather to warm up a bit to see if my ABS light wont go on again... and is it safe to mix DOT 3 and 4 brake fluid together? just incase I buy dot 3 and my car has dot 4 or vice versa.

Hi I have the same problem. How do you test the code and what the code means?
