Default ABS Delete

So I took off the ABS system of my DA today cause the lines were all different sizes what I want to know is will there be a difference in the braking or no? and what are pros and cons of this?

I'd like to know how well the braking is or any issues that could arise from converting my LS brake system (from its original but failing ABS) to an RS model non ABS system as well.

Who here has done this, and were there any issues afterwards since were already on this topic?

I already finished doing this today took off the abs system cause it was giving me problems. My brake pedal will sink to the floor with no resistance and it came to the point where if I wasn't using my ebrake my teg wouldn't brake. Took it off and problem solved.

I've seen a couple threads showing how to convert it to a non-abs system but most usually say not to do so for safety reasons, but my thoughts are.

If Im mearly changing my factory ABS equipt LS to a non abs system like that of the RS DC4 then why would there be any issues there? Do RS's have the tendancy to lock often?

Personally I think it would be just fine, but I wanted to hear from people who have done it and see what they said about any issues that they had, if any at all.

That's the same problem I had. The resevoir was leaking and there was also leaks on some of the lines. I didn't find a write up on it. My dads friend has done it before and he came by and helped us we just went to a junkyard picked up a couple of lines and a couple of other parts the friend needed. Now I need to replace the booster cause that got messed up too. I'll finish it maybe tomorrow or the weekend and drive it around and see what the main difference is.

i think the only thing to worry about is the prop valve, i dont remember where i read this, but i want to say the abs and the non abs have different ratios. i know the da non abs is a 40 40, and i want to say the abs is a 50 40 or a 60 40... im not positive, but ill look again. ive looked into this, my abs is locked up, so its just extra weight on me, and i have the motor out now anyways

Well I finished taking off the ABS. Got a new Booster and a Master Cylinder. I think it's better to have the ABS but I couldn't find a used one at a Pick a Part so screw it but the braking is decent it could be better I still need to replace my rear pads so maybe that would make a difference who knows.

So how is it exactly? Is there too much pressure building in the lines causing the brakes to get stiff, or does it not brake hard enough?

Agreed 100% if you plan on doing any type of high performance driving you better off with it. I know i'm going to get flamed for saying this, but ABS has kept my car on the track. I get to about 4 HPDE per year, and ABS will save your car. A show car with a shaved bay, by all means get rid of it. But if you are going to be doing anything from an auto cross or a HPDE even to being johnny ricer on public roads, you're better of with it. I know you made up your mind but for anyone else who reads this, not a good idea. BTW it was sunny and dry when ABS kept my car from hitting a wall on the track. And if you are good brake modulation your ABS will not go off unless its needed.

For me, I wasnt considering doing it for any kind of cosmetic/appearance reason. I've had issues with my ABS and have tried everything in the manual to correct it but I suspect that its probably failing due to the age of the car so I wanted a cheaper solution then replacing the ABS unit.

I'm going to try a few more things/spend a little more money into other apsects of my brake system to see if that fixes the problem but if it doesnt then I might end up doing this unless I find a working ABS unit off a used model for a decent price, IDK.....

It brakes decently it will brake hard if you pump once and then brake down or if you brake ahead of time instead of at the last second.

No I know what you mean, my ABS wasn't working anymore like I said iot wasn't braking and If I could find a cheap one used then I would put it on. I hit up a couple of junkyards but most of them had RS and the few GS I found they already had the ABS system taken off or if they had it. it was all jacked up already cause I bought one for 16 bucks but it was doing the same thing it was leaking from a line and when I braked one of the lines completely popped off but it's definitely worth to keep it.
