Ouch that valve looks wasted.
How was the piston and the port?

Guess you came out quite lucky then. Could of been alot worse.
Id give the head a port and polish aswell as a slight skim while its off.

if I knew how to port & polish it myself I would, just installing the valves was expensive enough for my budget.
car 2000 (wasn't broken when I bought it)
valves 200
valve job 200
head gasket set 140
manual 15
timing belt 60
still need to buy oil, antifreeze, power steering belt and booze for my mechanic
everything is adding up with this car and since these costs came all of a sudden I just want this car running reliably so I can get to work and not worry about it breaking down. At least the car will be running in peak performance. I am also wondering if I should change the fuel filter since it was the valves that failed, looks like due to deposits.

You could get a little dye grinder/dremial with a sanding head and just sand away all the carbon build up.

Wont give you massive gains but it will atleast get you back to stock flow, especially on the exhaust side.

I did mine with a little wire wheel and a drill lol.
But only on the exhaust side because it gets alot of carbon build up because my car has to run really rich at idle.

Also with the valve like that I would be looking at replacing a O2 sensor.

well car is finally running again and I hope that is the last of that problem.

would a faulty o2 sensor cause such valve buildup?
