Default 200hp+?

this question is for my friend. he has a DC RS model, which has a B18B motor, and he wants to get some more power out of it, maybe 180-200ish at the wheel. i told him about the LS-vtec, but he thinks its more expensive than just doing his LS motor. so here goes the question, what kinda mods does he need or has to get to pump it to 200ish with NO BOOST.. thx for any input!

Naturally aspirated, 200 whp out of a b18b? I'd be cheaper to swap in a k20. (hella exaggerated but you get the idea)

lsv is the way to go. to get a ls motor n/a non vtec gonna take alot of work and money. u can do an lsv for like 1500 or so with some head work. u have good power, how much i dunno depends on the parts u use and what way ur building it. if u spend that much on your ls u most likely wont get the same power as lsv. i personally say lsv would be better choice if u want 200 whp

Definately LS-V. Anythign else, you'll be talking about pulling your motor to get it bored over to 2.0 and getting your head polished, ported blah blabh blah.

Go with quality parts though whatever you do.

LS/V - How long will it last? May want to do a LS all motor build and get hopefully
around 170 whp and have a strong engine that will last. Just a thought!

I have an ls that I'm building. Has a B20 bottom end though. More displacement is the way to go. Not really interested in the v-tec thing either...It's what everyone else has. I'll keep you posted though!

kartman 5 -
a lot of people have made around 170whp on LS engines without having to throw a VTEC head on. You just have to add higher compression pistons and run some crower 404 cams. if you want to read more about them go over to nonvtec.com

Just go Vtec!!!
Simply put a Honda without Vtec is like have sex with your clothles on, yes foreplay is fun but you will never get the full excitment of well you know lol

I didn't think it was possible to get 200whp from a nonVtec LS block hahaha that is how much I know
