Welcome my $100.00 Del Sol to the H-T family!
Since I have just read your ENTIRE thread here, I'd of been a bit ticked if you had sold it, it's a great read! I do understand your feelings though.... I just picked up my 98 HX Civic, and just love the car - it has a poor respray and little things wrong with it, but I fix them here and there. I'll be juck yard hunting soon for some OEM alloys - love to find a set of HX wheels, but would be happy with fat 5s too.
Good luck - subscribed.

Heyyyy!
I purchased a center vent and antennae from a member here on H-T. So yeah, thats somethin!
Also, I purchased a slave cylinder for Jellybean, as a last ditch effort to fix my shifting/clutch issue. I figure if this doesnt fix it, then my clutch is indeed bad
We shall see.
Anyway, thats about it for now.
I shall post pics when I get my slave cylinder in/installed.

Hey hey!! I've done a lil work on Jelly. Replaced my center vent and antennae (which was a pain). I also replaced my dizzy O ring, which was leaking terribly. Here is the DIY I made for it.
-------------------------------------
Distributor O ring replacement
You may ask yourself: Mac, how do I know if I need to replace my dizzy O ring? If your engine has more oil outside than it does inside and its leaking on the tranny, it probably needs replaced.
After driving 80 MPH on the interstate, when I would get to my destination smoke would be coming from the hood as the oil was ending up on the exhaust. NO bueno. One woman said my car was on fire. Funny story as she was pretty stupid and was convinced my car was going to catch on fire. But anyway... It was leaking. Feast your eyes upon thy picture!

Tools needed:
- 12 mm Socket/extension/ratchet
- 12mm wrench (optional if you don't have a ratchet)
- Small flat head screw driver/small knife or pick to get O ring off/on.
- Nerves of steel and wits like razor blades.
Time needed:
- 20 mins or so
Parts needed:
- Distributor O ring
- Rags (for greasy hands)
- Honda part # 30110-PA1-732 Size: 26.4x3.1mm
- Napa part #/size 25.2x8
Cost:
- OEM $14.24 shipped from Majestic Honda (may be cheaper at your local stealership)
- $10.00 from eBay
- $1.25 from Napa.
** Note** I used an O ring from Napa. It was slightly smaller than the OEM but seems to work just fine. Not to mention it was much cheaper.
From Majestic Honda's website.

-----------------------------------
Time to get dirty!
Step 1: Find your car and gather your tools/parts. Don't do like I did and not let your car cool off before you do this. The engine is rather hot :and flesh burns easily.
le tools

le engine... Shes dirty, I know. But no dirtier than your mom so its ok
252,000 miles and still going strong!

Step 2: Scribe a mark on the dizzy so you know where your timing needs to be set. Make it look like so. Use a screwdriver or teeth if you must, as long as its sharp and can make a mark in the metal.

Step 3: Remove the (3) 12mm bolts holding the distributor on. **Note** You can use a wrench, but a ratchet/extension is much easier.
I removed the bolts already in this pic, but they are each on one of the three ears. If you can't find the bolts, you probably don't need to attempt replacing the O ring in the first place.

Step 4: Gently pull on the distributor and it'll pop out of place. Ta daa!!

**Note** I didnt have enough room to remove the O ring with the spark plug wires still connected, so I just pulled em off the spark plugs. My wires are staggered in length so I didnt have to worry abotu marking them. If yours aren't, then be sure to mark the wires and be careful pulling them out as they can get stuck and you can pull the wire out of the boot.
Its magic!!

Yep, the O ring was leaking. **Note** As you can see in the pic, there are two little ears that stick into the camshaft. They are slightly offset so if you move the dizzy 180 degrees, it wont go back into the camshaft straight, itll be crooked.

Step 5: Take yoru knife/screwdriver/pick and pry the ring out of the lil slot its in. Since youre replacing the O ring, dont worry if it breaks: Its not a condom and your car wont get pregnant. If it does, thats weird. Sell the car immediately.

I purchased two O rings just to be sure, different sizes. The one of the LEFT is what I used as the one on the right was too fat. Fat O rings just won't cut it.

Step 6: Stick the dizzy back in, bolt it up and put the plugs wire back on. Just the reverse of what you did. Again, be careful putting the wires back in as you dont wanna cross em up. Your car will run slightly bad if you do
Step 7: Double check everything and crank her up! **Note** When I cranked my car, it ran rough. I shut it off immediately and double checked my stuff. I actually pulled the dizzy off and made sure I had it in correctly and double checked my wires. All was well.
So, I cranked her up again and after I let it run for a couple seconds, she smoothed out and all seems to be fine and well in the world, angels descending from heaven holding one long note and whatnot, it was pretty groovy. :D
I have yet to take her out on the road and test drive her. Also have to clean the bay so I can check and see if shes still leaking or not.
If there needs to be any changes or would like me to add anything, lemme know and I shall do so.
Enj0y!
Teh 3nd
-------------------------
I also purchased a new muffler $63.00 shipped and a fan **** ($25.00 shipped, freaking redonkulous!!)
I shall be installing them next week when they get in
I might even post pics :D

Indeed I did! She has served me very, very well. Alas... all good things must come to an end.
------------------------------
I just got off the phone with Ali, who owns the civic below.

Its a 1999 Civic (dont knwo if its a DX/LX/EX) but it has 140k miles and an auto tranny. Unlike Jellybean, it doesn't have a good side/bad side: The whole ca is in great shape, inside and out. The catch?
The trans is not working. It could be a solenoid or it could be the whole tranny needs replaced. I wont know until later.
He was asking $1400 but was talked down to $1k. I'm going to look at the car tonight and if its in as good of shape as my bro says it is (who took this picture) I shall buys it. The solenoid is around $150.00. If that doesn't fix it, it needs a tranny. Just a quick search on ebay and there is one with 117k miles for $475.00 shipped.
Sadly, I would sell jellybean to my Bro (who is on H-T and who would love her/take care of her) for $600.00 to offset the cost of the new civic. Plus while my wife is awesome, it has already been stated in my marriage that I can't have 3 cars (but I can own two!!). I can't sell my turbo Integra, I have too much time/love/blood in that car to part with (right now anyway).
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, yeah, thats whats happening. Know that I wasnt looking to sell Jelly or buy another car, this just kinda popped up and meshes well with my plans. I REALLY want to be done with cars and focus on my drumming... Which, BTW, if anybody wants to buy my Iron Cobra doubel bass pedals, hit me up. I want to go with a true double bass setup(two bass drums, two single pedals).
I shall update later as I know more..
For what its worth, Jelly wouldn't go away until the new civic was up and running. But I trust my bros judgment implicitly so if he says its in awesome shape, then it is and I will be buying this car tonight
**Edit** and changing out the wheels instantly because those hubcaps are so gay...

Hey there! Its been a lil bit since my last update. I've been super busy and haven't done much to Jelly except drive her.
And swap wheels
Just a lil timeline of how she has evolved since I purchased her.
How I found her:

Cleaned up some:

After being lowered.

15" EX wheels, 205/55's

Lowered EX wheels, 205/50's

16" Rota C8's

And just a quick comparison from the beginning to now...

Not yet, though Im tryin to get my bro to help me knock it all out in a weekend. If I mess around much longer, itll be too cold to paint.
I just have zero desire to do anything related to cars anymore
Its pathetic. My Integra broke me of modifying cars. I just want to drive them

Great find!! I've had my 92 Civic Sedan for 2 months that I took from my dad. I told him I will pay him a grand but I will be dropping the price down because of all the repairs i have done to it. I'll give him a "badger talk"

Gah! I forgot to take a pic of my goodies I purchased
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame!
I do have one pic though, which thou shall liketh...

I picked those up for $125! 16" Rota Circuit 8's. No, they won't stay blue, but for the time being it works.
I also picked up a fender for $30.00!! And OEM del Sol tails for $20 :D I am very pleased. So, time is runnin out for me to paint Jelly. Its going to be too cold soon so I absolutely HAVE to get it painted this month or else it won't happen till next march or later.
SOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... I HAVE to get my butt in gear. Sad thing is.. I don't want to :S

nice pick up. those were dirt cheap. man u find some sick deals! Paint still looks in decent shape (aside from the other side of jelly) so it shouldn't be bad if you leave paint until march. i say just leave it.
TO this, I say nay! Im getting this ish done. I want to play video games and drum, not work on cars. Lame, I know, but I want out of the game... But I have to finish what I've started.
So here we go!
I would like to preface this by saying I am but a humble noob, I am not a paint and body expert. If you don't like what I'm doin.. Well you cant do a damn thing about it so don't flame
Im doin the best I can with what limited ability I have to work with.Onward to pics!
So I started yesterday, just picked out the biggest dents and went to work on em. Hand sanding sucks.
I also put my fender I picked up a couple of weeks ago on

That was all I did for the day, only worked an hour or so.
------------------
Today
Look at this crap! I hadnt even taken a sip out of it and it wasnt even full. I didnt realize this until I had driven away. I felt ripped off. This was after I spent $180.00 on sanding stuff and a new wobble sander.

Sand sand sand...
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...226130721.jpg/
... and sand and sand..

Sup?

teh n00b (me)

Lets play: Can we find the dents!

Shes no longer a f*cking *****! (thats what was keyed into the hood for those of you just joining in)

My grandma came over so I couldnt use the air sander, so I just hand sanded stuff while I talked to her.

Riku! Gayest dog ever, but hes a sweet lil guy. My dad dyed his hair btw...

Im bored.. lets sand some more!

...and sand...

:/

Uber photoshop.

Yanked the emblems and sanded some maor...

And that was on my front rim. I did grande amounts of work today.

Annnnnnnnnnnnndddddddd.... Thats it for now. Surprisingly, the dents that Ive filled are actually smooth! Like, I think they will look good when Im done. Weird, I know. Im as shocked as you are. Well, you probably aren,t but whatever

This was a good 5 hours work, maybe a tad more. Im headin out after I get up tomorrow and hit it again, except I'm gonna start working on that bad panel... Kinda work on it inbetween working on other parts of the car.
My goal tomorrow is to have everything but the targo/rear window area/rear bumper sanded. I've got some dents on the hood to fill as well as the driver fender and a couple more on the pass fender too. We shall see how far I get.
My goal* (Doubt its attainable but Imma try) is to have the body prepped and ready to paint... POSSIBLY by Sunday. I dont know. I guess it depends on how well that holy panel goes.
Anyway, work is moving along.
Enj0y!
I remember this thread from like 2-3 years ago!! I was one of the first to comment on it!! And never saw anything from it again! Of course I wasn't on here for like a year or something like that because I had to sell my car to get a truck for work....but hell yea dude...glad to see its still going!!! Keep up the good work!!
Sorry for not updating yesterday, had issuements with my air compressor. I broke the lil drain valve and had to buy another. Lame.
BUT, thats fixed and I'm back to work. But before I could work on Jelly today, I had to swap wheels... Long story short, a guy wanted to trade me some 17" motegi mr7s for my stock 01 EX wheels. So, I did it.
His ride:

My ride (or my wifes ride, actually).

And after:

After:

Much better me thinks!
So, on to Jelly
Ive got the passenger side done, its just the driver side and rear bumper/targa that needs sanded now. I elected to go ahead and start on my bad quarter panel as it needs layers and will take a long time.
I started off by sanding it down to teh metal :D

Looks bad, eh? I know :S
Time for fiberglassy bondoe stuff!

Keep in mind she use to look like this...

And a final pic with a lil primer sprayed on so the bare metal isnt showing. I ran out of hardener so Ill pick some more up tomorrow. Overall, the first layer went on and came out better than I had expected! Thats a good thing
Thats my turbo GSr in the background

So, yep.. Moar work tomorrow. I'll be on it all day and my dad will be helping me, so I'm thinkin I will make very good progress tomorrow.
Moar updates soon
